Welcome to Military Odyssey 2026 – Important Info for All On-Site

Hello and a warm welcome to everyone joining us at Military Odyssey – whether you’re an Exhibitor, Trader, Living History Group, Military Vehicle Owner, or Public Camper. This page is here to help you with everything you need to know if you’re staying on-site from Thursday 27th August to Tuesday 1st September 2026.

This guide is for everyone – not just group leaders or the person who booked!

Before You Arrive

Check Your Booking Details
Please double-check the details on your confirmation email – this is what we’ll use to check you in. If anything’s wrong, it could cause delays at the gate.

If you arrive outside these times, security will park you up until check-in reopens.

No access via other gates.

Check-In Info
Please don’t queue along Scragged Oak Road.
To help everything run as smoothly as possible — and to support the showground, Kent Highways, Kent Police, and our local community we ask that we avoid any queuing on Scragged Oak Road. This helps prevent unnecessary disruption not only to traffic flow but also to local residents, who we’re keen to be considerate of during the event.

Please follow the signs into the new booking-in field, where our team will be ready to welcome you at the far end.

To speed up check-in, have these handy:

Lead name on the booking
Names of people checking in with you
Vehicle registration(s) for those arriving

General Info for Everyone On-Site

Wristbands

Must be always worn.
Need extras? Buy online or at HQ.
If yours breaks, bring all pieces to HQ for a replacement.

Fires & BBQs

Open fires: Only for Living History groups, and you must restore the ground afterward.
BBQs: Off-ground only and must be supervised.
No unattended fires.
This decision maybe revisited due to the excessive heatwave.  Please check with Event HQ or our Fire Team for latest information.

Pyrotechnics & Fireworks

Strictly no use without prior approval from HQ.

Event HQ

Now in the Emson Building (entrance to the right of the Bar).  This will have security in outside out show hours.

Rubbish

Use the large bins provided.
Don’t put BBQ ashes in bin bags.

Dogs

Keep them on leads.
Clean up after them.
Make sure they’re comfortable with loud noises.

ATMs
Cash points are on site – check your map or the programme.

Fire Extinguishers
All Traders, Campers, Living History, and Vehicle Owners must have an up-to-date extinguisher on your pitch – spot checks will happen.

General Store
Located on the road to the battlefield. They accept pre-orders – relax and let them do the running!

Drones
Military Odyssey is a designated no-fly zone under CAA regulations. The showground qualifies as a crowded area and features aerial activity during the event. Therefore, a NOTAM is in effect during the show. Therefore, Drones are strictly prohibited without prior express permission from HQ

Media Team
Our film crew is helping us promote the event – if approached, we’d love for you to share your story! It helps the whole community grow.

Vehicle Rules

  • No non-exhibit vehicles on-site after 08:45 on show days, please help us and move your vehicle once unloaded rather than waiting to be asked.
  • Vehicle passes must be displayed at all times.
  • Please Park where instructed and do not block roadways.
  • 10mph site speed limit – monitored by Security.
  • No vehicle movement during show hours unless authorised.
  • E-scooters are not allowed on the showground.

Military Vehicles

  • Non-military vehicles should be removed or covered for the Duration of the event.
  • Keep water points clear and accessible.

Radio Station

Launching at the 2026 show is a new Radio Station covering all things Military & will be broadcasting live from the showground.  You can listen to the station on 87.9fm or on our website www.militaryodyssey.com/radio/ or via the Military Odyssey App which is available from the App Store/Google Play Store

You can make dedications and requests either via the website or via text / WhatApp to 07570 000 324 note this number does not receive incoming calls.

Traders

Marquees

Marquee companies may arrive from Thursday only.  Unless prebooked via Event HQ.

Trader Registration

If you’re selling second-hand goods, register with Kent County Council under the Kent Act 2001:

Indoor Hall Traders

  • Closes at 18:00 each day (locked after hours).
  • Opens at 08:00 daily.
  • You’re responsible for your own stock and security.

Tobacco & Alcohol

Cannot be sold without proper licenses and written permission from HQ.

Display of Sensitive Items

Please be respectful in how you display sensitive or potentially controversial items.

Bladed & Airsoft Weapons

  • Must follow legal guidelines.
  • Goods must be sealed and safely packaged.
  • Inform customers not to open them until offsite.

Public Camping

  • Only designated vehicles allowed in camping area.
  • Standard pitch: 5m x 5m – extra space = extra cost.
  • Campsite Marshals are there to help – just ask!

After the Show

  • Indoor traders must vacate by 18:30, Monday 31st August.
  • All pitches must be vacated by 12 noon, Tuesday 1st September
  • Please leave your area clean and tidy – bins are located all around the site.

Emergencies

Security, Fire & Medical teams are on-site 24/7, located near the Beer Hall.

Additional support is available at Blue Gate and Yellow Gate.

Please keep your pets safe at night – our Security team includes working dogs.

If you see emergency vehicles with lights on, please give way.

A Final Word

We know it’s a lot to take in, but all these details help make the show enjoyable and safe for everyone. Our team, marshals, and volunteers work hard to make this event happen – so please treat them with kindness and respect.
